In the Gold of Flesh

"Birth is one of the great themes of poetry. Yet, until women started themselves to form their poetic tradition, it was a hidden one. In this marvellous new collection, established poets - Elizabeth Jennings, Kathleen Raine, Judith Wright and Anne Sexton - newer voices - Carole Satyamurti, Sara Boyes, Carolyn Askar - and as yet unpublished writers join traditional sources in an exploration of the great physical and inner transformations of birth and motherhood."-- Back cover.
